Product Description

We offer sodium keratan sulfate derived from porcine nasal cartilage and porcine shoulder cartilage, which differ in their degrees of sulfation.Keratan sulfate (KS) is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan composed of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (GlcNAc) and DGalactose (Gal). KS is abundant in cartilage and cornea in the form of unbranched polysaccharide chains covalently linked to the protein core of proteoglycans. Sodium Keratan Sulfate (NaKS) in this product has been purified from porcine shoulder cartilage and contains disaccharide units with a monosulfate structure (6-O-sulfation of GIcNAc) and a disulfate structure (6-O-sulfation of GIcNAc and Gal) in a ratio of approximately 1:1.
