Chondroitin (CH) is a glycosaminoglycan composed of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetyl-D-galactosamine (GalNAc) and D-glucuronic acid (GlcUA) and does not contain ester-linked sulfate groups. CH differs from hyaluronan in that its constituent hexosamine is GalNAc rather than N-acetyl-D glucosamine. CH is abundant in squid skin, where it exists as unbranched polysaccharide chains covalently linked to the core proteins of proteoglycans. The Sodium Chondroitin (NaCH) in this product is purified from squid skin and contains over 90% of unsulfated disaccharide units (0S structural unit). Each vial contains 1 mg (NaCH-02(SqS)1) or 3 mg (NaCH-02(SqS)3) of lyophilized NaCH. The attached Certificate of Analysis provides the actual measured values for each product specification including the disaccharide unit composition.
