SN21-LK15 is a peptide that enables efficient intracellular delivery of biomacromolecules. Developed by Professor Shiroh Futaki and colleagues at the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University, SN21-LK15 can efficiently deliver biomolecules—such as antibodies, bioactive proteins, and nucleic acids—into cells simply by adding it to the culture medium together with these molecules. It is expected to become a valuable intracellular delivery tool in drug discovery and pharmaceutical research.SN21-LK15 is a fusion of the peptide SN21, which induces macropinocytosis to promote uptake of extracellular substances, and LK15, a membrane-disrupting peptide that releases the delivered biomolecules inside the cell. By combining these functions, SN21-LK15 achieves dramatically improved intracellular delivery efficiency compared to conventional cell-penetrating peptides.
