Product Description

Kakshine® is a novel DNA staining reagent developed from a pyridocyanine-based structure. It exhibits high DNA selectivity and excellent cell permeability, making it suitable for staining not only animal cells but also plant cells. Notably, depending on the concentration used, Kakshine® can selectively stain mitochondrial DNA.

Kakshine® is a registered trademark of the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System.
This product is the tangible outcome of research conducted by Professor Yoshikatsu Sato at the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules, Nagoya University, under the Tokai National Higher Education and Research System, and is supplied by Cosmo Bio Co., Ltd.

Features

  • Low background fluorescence
  • Exceptionally high DNA selectivity (see Figure 2)
  • Excellent cell permeability, allowing nuclear staining in both animal and plant cells
  • Capable of staining not only nuclei but also mitochondrial and chloroplast DNA; selective staining is possible based on concentration
  • Low toxicity and phototoxicity due to excitation by long-wavelength light
  • Available in three product types to accommodate a broad range of excitation/emission wavelengths
