M-GGMC-1 is a monoclonal antibody (IgM) that recognizes mucin produced and secreted by gastric glandular mucus cells. The epitope is a sugar chain containing GlcNAc a-bonded to the non-reducing end, and it has been shown that the tissue staining property is almost the same as that of Paradoxical concanavalin A staining (type III). Recently, it has been reported that M-GGMC-1 staining is positive in the symptoms of malignant adenoma of the cervix and goblet cell type well-differentiated alveolar epithelial carcinoma, and it is highly useful for early diagnosis of these diseases.
