I-A_g7 chicken HEL^11-25 Tetramer comprises mouse MHC class II I-A_g7 and peptide fragment of hen egg lysozyme (HEL). HEL is an exceptionally abundant protein in hen egg whites and damages bacterial cell walls by hydrolytically cleaving the 1,4-beta-linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in peptidoglycan, and between N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues in chitodextrins. Therefore, HEL functions not only as a nutrient for early embryogenesis, but also as an antibitotic. I-A_g7 chicken HEL11-25 Tetramer can be used for staining CD4+ T cells that are specific for chicken HEL^11-25 peptide for cell enumeration by flow cytometry.
