Why HTRF®?
The Genuine TR-FRET Chemistry
TR-FRET (time resolved-fluorescence energy transfer) is a detection technology that combines FRET chemistry with long emission half-life fluorophores. HTRF® (Homogenous Time Resolved Fluorescence) detection technology is based on TR-FRET but has several distinguishing properties. HTRF® exclusively employs the extremely long half life donor fluorophore Europium, and its conjugation to a cryptate moiety which confers increased assay stability. Further, HTRF® employs a patented ratiometric measurement technique to correct for quenching and sample interference. Other HTRF® technology features include:
- Homogeneous assay format
- Low background
- Simplified assay miniaturization
- Tolerant of additives such as DMSO & EDTA
- Few false positive/false negatives
- Cell-based functional assay

Overview of ARTEMIS
Taking the "fret" out of TR-FRET
High sensitivity assay technologies demand a great reader, but you need one that won't break your budget. The Artemis TR-FRET microplate reader provides a low cost, high performance gateway into Cisbio's HTRF® assay technology. HTRF® is a beneficial extension of TR-FRET featuring homogenous assay protocols, extremely low backgrounds, and high sensitivity. Designed and built by Furuno Electric Company (Japan), a true world leader in marine electronics, the Artemis easily exceeds all criteria required by Cisbio for certified compatibility with HTRF® reagents. In addition, Furuno knows that precision instruments don't have to be delicate; the Artemis is built simple, tough, and rugged for years of dependable, low maintenance operation.
Selecting the Artemis reader takes the “fret” out of TR-FRET by simplifying your choices on the way to developing and running assays that meet your demanding specifications. Reagent selection is simplified because you go to Cisbio, the one expert source for all your HTRF® needs. Cisbio offers everything you’re likely to use from preconfigured assays for drug discovery targets, to a full selection of HTRF® toolbox reagents for assay development, to custom development programs for specialized applications. All reagents come matched and quality controlled. Then, the easy to use Artemis further simplifies your work by being fully dedicated to HTRF®, eliminating the need to select and change filters, and readily handling data collection, reduction, and analysis. Together, Artemis and Cisbio offer a practically turn-key solution to your TR-FRET assay needs.

Artemis MircroPlateReader Software
The Artemis is completely controlled by the easy to use Windows based MicroPlateReader software. User adjustable assay set-up parameters include flash count (the number of light flashes applied to each assay well), delay time (time between flash and fluorescence detection), and integration time (period of fluorescence detection). Controls, blanks, and samples can be mapped anywhere on 96 or 384 well plates. Data acquisition, data analysis, and data reduction are used with Cisbio's patented ratiometric Calculations (US Patent 5,527,684), and are all conveniently handled by MicroPlateReader. The data output is automatically saved in comma separated value (csv) format for further calculation and analysis in a spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
